St Aedh Mac Brice (Hugh) (589) was a hermit who spent some of his time on top of this famous mountain. There are ruins of his oratory there, a cross slab, 3 holy wells and also the remains of 23 penitential stations which may once have been huts. He also lived at Killaghtee nearby (qv) Co Donegal.
