Croagh Patrick

County Mayo

In pre-historic times the summit of the mountain was occupied by a hill fort, with stone ramparts and dwellings. There was an early monastery here, with a later oratory called Teampall Phadraig. There is St Patrick’s ‘bed’, a Cross Slab and pillar-stones.
The mountain dominates the skyline in all directions.
