County Meath

St Patrick is said to have founded a monastery here and made St Erc bishop. The present buildings were built on the site of St Erc’s hermitage, though they were rebuilt in the 15C and still in use till the 16C. There is St Erc’s tomb shrine and a now dried up Holy Well.
