St. Inghean Bhaoth founded a monastery here. Cill Inghine Bhaoth = Church of Baoth’s daughter. The present church is 13/16C. It has a 2 barred cross in the gable; this may have been from an earlier building? There is a Round Tower. A rare Tau cross, one of probably only two in Ireland, (the other is on Tory Island qv.) once set in a wall at nearby Roughan, is now to be found in the museum at Corofin. There is a Holy Well behind the National School.
